I also save elastics

Today I told my friend how I find myself saving twist ties in a little baggie in my kitchen drawer. I do this because I like to feel smug about reusing stuff (Reusing! The only thing that trumps recycling!), but also because sometimes? You need a twist tie.

"So, basically, you're telling me that you're my grandmother?" she said.

Touche. And then I went home and flattened out all the packing paper that came in my Amazon packages so that I can use it later for gift wrap.* And then I ate dinner at 4:00 pm and went to bed.**

*Note: I actually do this.

**Almost.

Sorry, Swistle, I didn't get this comment because I am already in bed.

I also save twist ties. We have way more than we can ever use. But they're also great cat toys! Our cat will play for hours with a twist tie. I also have way more used, then ironed, gift wrap than I have been able to use, likely because its all Christmas paper, so it can't be used year round. Frugality is sexy. Or so I say. My husband doesn't always agree.

Frugal! You are frugal! Frugal is good! ( I once read a "frugal living" book which had 50 ways you can tell if you are -- OK, it really said "tightwad" -- and one of them was doing things with used twist ties, and I met 35 of the qualifications. My grandmother met all 50. You're welcome.)

In the process of cleaning my kitchen after Christopher's birthday party, I had to FORCE myself to throw away the wrapping and tissue paper. It was painful, Maureen, PAINFUL. But I did it! I threw away the wrapping paper....only after I carefully salvaged and saved (and folded nicely) as much of the tissue as I could. OKAY, and some of the ribbons, too. Baby steps...
