Problems most of you were unaware existed

Andrew is very sad, because he is probably going to have to replace his calculator, and he’s had that calculator since 1992. It is a TI-85, and you can’t even get those anymore!

But the trusty ol’ TI-85 is on its last legs. Today the screen went blank after only 20 seconds even though he set the auto shutoff for 2 minutes. Not only that, but it cleared all the variables he had stored for that day!

What, you don’t have a list of variables you are going to need for the day?

Tell Andrew that I feel his pain (sort of). My TI-85 has also been on its last legs for several years. I don't have the cool excuse of running it into the ground by using it its full capacity, though. I just like that it has a REALLY big screen so I can see everything I've done for the past 5 steps. I have had to squint to read it for about 5 years since the screen has lost any semblance of the brightness it once had (despite being set to maximum). Ah, the slow demise of the TI-85...

Hey, we have a TI-85 that we never use! Do you want me to mail it to you? It's from the late 90s (when we were in high school) so it's probably got several years of working left in it.

Oh I remember those. I didn't use it for variables, I used it to pass notes in class.

Poor Andrew. It's the end of an era!

I am such a loser, I had a TI-83. I doubt mine could have stored HALF the variables Andrew's did.

I totally had a TI-85....and I think it must be someplace in my house, but I haven't been able to find it for 2 or 3 years....I LOVED that calculator. I used to know how to write programs in it...back when I was a math genius:)
